The answer: it depends. Here?s what will happen. If you are presenting in a dark room (where all the lights are dimmed), a white background will create too much glare. That?s going to bother your audience. Solution? When presenting in a dark room, use a dark background and light foreground for text, charts, tables, and diagrams.
On the other hand, if you are working with a powerful projector and have control over the lighting, the background color? makes little difference. You can, for example, turn up the light and keep a light?even white?background. The key is this: don?t make it hard on your audience to see the information on your slides. That?s what you need to keep in mind.
